City now allows credit cards, online payments for water bills | Events
City of Biloxi-The City of Biloxi is now offering its water customers the option of paying their monthly water bill with a credit card or e-check, either in the water department office or through the city's web site.
The vendor providing the secure service – X-press-pay.com -- charges a convenience fee of 2.95 percent plus 63 cents for credit cards – about $2.78 on a $72 water bill -- or a flat $2.50 for echecks.
"These are services that have been requested in the past by our customers," Mayor A.J. Holloway said. "We've tried to find a way to avoid charging a convenience fee, but state law does not allow it.
"However, a service that some of our customers already use – and it's free – is a bank draft service where customer's accounts can be automatically billed each month. Just drop by the water department on Main Street and they'll set it up with your bank."
