New route for Biloxi public schools | Transportation
Biloxi School District -
On Friday, Biloxi Public Schools will implement a new traffic plan at North Bay Elementary School. It's designed to take the morning and afternoon line of cars off busy Popp's Ferry Road and have vehicles enter from the south, on Indian Drive, off Jam Lane and Richard Drive.
This is being done for a number of reasons. It's safer for motorists and pedestrians, and it will help diminish the need for crossing guards at Popp's Ferry Road.
The city is wrapping up work on the street markings and signage on Indian Drive leading into the North Bay from the south, and the school system has been notifying the 300 or so parents who drop off or pick up their children at North Bay each school day.
This is going to represent a big change for parents. They'll have to take Jam Lane or Cedar Lake Road instead of turning into North Bay off Popp's Ferry Road. Also, motorists who travel Popp's Ferry Road each morning and afternoon are going to notice less congestion on Popp's Ferry Road north of the school.
The district is implementing the plan on Friday, so parents will be familiar with it come next year.
